All types and sizes come in either Strong or Light versions.

Strong pipe is double the strength of any other same size welded or bolt together frame on the market due to the use of 7075 T6 aluminum, the same material used in the wing structure of airplanes!

Light pipe is the same strength as other 6061 T6 tubing, but at only half the weight.

Now you can make a frame with strong tubes where you need them, and light tubes where you don’t. You can also make lighter frames that allow the use of common parts. You can make very light frames for smaller boats while maintaining compatibility with existing accessories. Use common 1.25” oar locks on 1.25” light side rails, and either 1.25” light or 1” crossbars to keep the weight of the overall frame below that of a welded 1” pipe frame. Or make a very strong frame using 1.5” side rails, and 1.25” crosses to allow the use of common seat brackets or other accessories designed for 1.25” tubing.

For accessories mounted with set screws, the thicker wall pipe is recommended.
